Fifth Avenue business sector says they will file an Amparo to stop remodeling project

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The business sector of Playa del Carmen says they will file an Amparo to stop the remodeling work of the city’s Fifth Avenue that is being promoted by its current government.

Head of the Cámara Nacional de Comercio, Servicios y Turismo de Playa del Carmen, Pablo Alcocer Góngora, says going ahead with the remodeling of Fifth avenue will only hurt businesses

“It is not necessary to go to this step, and the meetings we have requested have been postponed on at least three occasions. We just sent a letter and we didn’t get a response either,” explained Lenín Amaro, CCERM leader.

Although the legal issue is in the analysis phase, the counselor of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Playa del Carmen pointed out that any act by an authority that causes damage to one or more businesses in its operability can be stopped judicially.

He explained that the remodeling project being promoted by Laura Beristain has already been tendered for 117 million peso, something, he says, the business sector did not know about.
