San Andrés Cholula, Puebla — A man alleged responsible for the murder of an American bar owner has been arrested. In a press release, the Puebla State Attorney General’s Office reported the arrest of Luis N for the murder of Scott D.
Luis N was arrested by police after a judge issued a warrant for murder charges. Luis N is alleged responsible for the murder of 46-year-old American Scott Danford. Danford was the owner of La Mezca bar in San Andrés Cholula, Puebla.
Scott D was killed around 7:30 p.m. August 4 inside his bar. The shooter, Luis N, fled the scene but was arrested August 16. According to the Puebla State Attorney General’s Office, “state investigative agents apprehended Luis N who presumably caused the victim’s death by detonating a firearm against him and then fleeing the scene.”
The American, who lived in the state of Puebla, died after being shot in the head. According to Puebla Governor Luis Miguel Barbosa, it was a targeted attack for the payment of a debt of floor rights.
“We know that it is a matter of a collection of floor rights or the collection of debts. A debt was collected and charged words were exchanged, which is how this unfortunate event happened,” Barbosa said.
Scott Danford was a husband and father of two. He had been the owner of La Mezca for five years. The Municipal Secretary of Public Security reported that during the August 4 targeted shooting, there were no signs of a robbery.
