FGE investigating the death of woman found in Playa del Carmen apartment

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An investigation into the death of an English woman found deceased in her Playa del Carmen apartment is underway. The Attorney General of the state says they are investigating the death of an unidentified woman found dead in her Playacar home Friday.

The FGE says the body, which does not show signs of violence, was found around noon by the building manager after they approached the unit to collect rent.

“The FGE of Quintana Roo informs that it started an investigation for the death of a female person of foreign origin inside a home in the municipality of Solidaridad. Preliminary reports show there are no signs of violence. Investigation acts are already being carried out to find out the cause of her death. (Information in development)”

According to preliminary information, she is a citizen of English origin and was found Friday around noon by the manager of the building who went to collect rent.

Tourist Police who interviewed the building administrator said that when she went to collect rent from the tenant, the tenant did not respond. When she looked in the window, she saw her lying on the floor. The woman, who lived alone, had apparently died several days before. Forensic Medical Services removed the body for an autopsy.

April 4: In a public statement, the FGE has reported that an autopsy shows the woman, who has not been identified, died of natural causes. The FGE says that her family along with her consulate, have been notified of her death.
