Female deer suffers fractured leg after being hit in Playacar

Playa del Carmen., Q.R. — Playa del Carmen Environmentalists have rescued an adult female deer after she was hit by a vehicle in the subdivision of Playacar.

The white-tailed deer was hit on Xaman-Há Street in Playacar Tuesday morning when emergency personnel were called for assistance in helping the animal. Crisel Chico of la Dirección de Medio Ambiente de Solidaridad, arrived to review the animal, noting a likely fractured leg as well as other body wounds.

Firemen transferred the adult deer to their facilities. The deer was then transferred to facilities in Xcaret where she will remain in recovery before being returned to the wild.

Crisel Chico says that there are two known groups of deer in the municipality, one of which is at the Playa del Carmen airport and the other, inside Playacar.
