Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A family dispute turned into domestic violence Wednesday in the community of Puerto Aventuras. One person was arrested after others managed to escape the burning home.
Police and firemen were sent to the private home in phase III of Puerto Maya in response to neighbor reports. A man and woman were reported by neighbors for arguing inside the home with their children when the man set fire to the house.
The children were able to run out of the house and get help from neighbors. A fire was intentionally set inside the home by the man while the woman was still inside.
Firemen arrived to a burning home that they were able to extinguish, but not save. The home suffered extensive damage.
The woman was able to escape without major injuries. Municipal Police located the man alleged responsible and arrested him at the scene. The children, all minors, were taken into protective custody.
Alcohol consumption is being factored into the case.
