Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three men were killed and one left seriously wounded after gunfire erupted at a Playa del Carmen construction site. The shooting happened Saturday on a construction site in the city’s north end at Ciudad Mayakoba.
According to on-site security guards, one male arrived at the site around 2:00 p.m. who identified himself as a maintenance worker. Within moments of his arrival, gunshots were heard.
The lone man opened fire against a group of bricklayers killing three and leaving one seriously injured. Paramedics were called who arrived to confirm the three deaths. The injured man was rushed to hospital.
Other workers on site attempted to subdue the shooter, however, he was able to jump a fence and escape. Municipal police arrived and also began a search operation, but came up empty handed.
