Failed pass attempt leaves PDC driver trapped in crumpled car

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Excessive speed is being factored into a highway accident that left its driver trapped after a failed pass attempt. Solidaridad firemen were needed to free the man after he crashed his vehicle late Saturday morning.

National Guard and municipal police were also at the scene north of Playa del Carmen shortly before noon in response to motorists reports of the single vehicle accident. The male driver lost control of his car and crashed into a highway sign while attempting to pass another vehicle.

His smashed up car was found resting against a pile of rocks where it finally came to a stop. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident. Firemen used to jaws of life to free him.

He was transferred to a Playa del Carmen hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. National Guard stayed behind while the vehicle was towed and the road cleared of debris.
