José María Morelos, Q.R. — A head on crash southwest of Tulum near the Costa Maya area left two dead and two injured. The crash happened early Sunday morning along a section of the San Marcos-Dziuché federal highway when a driver failed to pass a slow car.
Both cars involved in the accident were completely destroyed after one of the cars was attempting to pass another when it crashed head on into an oncoming car in the other lane.
First responders to the 2:00 a.m. accident arrived to find two dead and two injured between the two cars. Traffic elements of the National Guard secured the scene until daylight broke and police were able to gather evidence and have the cars towed.
The dead have not been identified.
