Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Excessive speed and a lack of caution is being blamed for a three vehicle accident that left a taxi on its roof. On Monday, police and emergency services were called to the scene of an intersection crash involving three cars.

The accident was reported by motorists traveling Playa del Carmen Boulevard in the southern part of the city. Two people from the accident were injured in the three car crash.
The taxi driver and his passenger were left injured when the driver of the taxi rear-ended a compact car which ended up colliding with a third vehicle. The third vehicle did not suffer major damage, however, the damage to the rear of the compact car was extensive.
The impact from the rear-end left the taxi on its roof in the intersection. Municipal Traffic officers carried out traffic control while they waited for a tow truck to remove the involved vehicles.

Monday afternoon traffic was severely backed up in an already naturally heavily congested area for more than an hour while the scene was cleared of vehicles and debris.
