Holbox, Q.R. — Despite a chilly weekend, European tourists took to the beaches at Holbox. The director of Tourism of the City Council of Lázaro Cárdenas, Juan José Calixto Góngora, said that tourist activity in Holbox remains at 50 percent despite the current low temperatures.
He noted that in previous years, the island was filled with travelers, however, with the pandemic, island hotels are hovering around the 50 percent mark, adding that those figures are positive since for many months, there were no tourists due to Coronavirus fears.
Calixto Góngora commented that at the moment it is predominantly Europeans booked on the island. He says their European guests are enjoying the sea and sand even though weekend temperatures were much cooler than normal.
He added that a gradual recovery is being felt with the arrival of both national and international tourists who arrive for the island’s beauty.
