Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police from the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) arrested one while paramedics transported another to the hospital Thursday morning. Police were called following a violent fight with one man reported armed. Police responded to reports of the fight between two men that occurred early Thursday near Playa Mamitas.
Authorities were called around 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of 28th Street and Zona Federal Marítima where two men were reported fighting on the street. According to reports, one of them was carrying a knife which he used to stab the other in the ribs.
Area security guards witnessed the attack and called 911, managing to detain the attacker until SSC police arrived. PDC Tourist Police also arrived in response to the report. They proceeded to arrest one armed man.
Paramedics provided first aid to the injured man before transporting him to hospital. A cause for the public altercation is unknown, however, preliminary reports from the eye witness security guards indicate that both men were intoxicated at the time of the confrontation.
