Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man who stabbed another to death during a heated argument has been sentenced to 37 years. Ignacio “N” was found guilty of aggravated homicide during an April 23, 2022 argument.
According to police, the incident happened in a tenement located on Avenida 1 Sur, between Avenida 135 and 140 where both men, who shared a room, were drinking.
“The suspect subsequently got into an argument with the victim so the owner of the establishment intervened to warn them that fighting was prohibited in the building. Ignacio “N” took advantage of the distraction to grab a knife and stab the man several times, resulting in his death,” police said.
Ignacio “N” was found guilty of the crime of aggravated homicide, for which he was sentenced to 37 years and six months. He was also ordered to pay a fine of 216,495 pesos plus 864,350 pesos in damages.
