José María Morelos, Q.R. — UPDATED: A driver who fled the scene after hitting a motorcyclist, ended up in police custody after overturning his own vehicle during a police chase.
The incident happened in the town of Dziuché around 5:00 p.m. Sunday when a male driving a Neon car hit a motorcyclist then fled the scene.
An alert was put out by local police who began a pursuit of the Neon driver. For more than 20 kilometers, the man tried to outmaneuver police, however, when entering the municipality of José María Morelos, he was met by a team of waiting police. A miscalculation saw his car leave the highway and overturn.
The car, which landed on its roof in highway brush in the municipality of José María Morelos, was quickly attended to by police and paramedics who rushed the driver to hospital under police custody.
UPDATE: The male driver of the Neon was rushed to hospital with serious injures after rolling his car. He later died. Police have identified him as Renán Raúl A.C.
