Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A weekend accident outside Playa del Carmen left a vehicle heavily damaged and at least one tourist with minor injuries. The accident was reported Saturday night around 10:30 p.m. near the southern Playa del Carmen police filter.
Reports say for unknown reasons, the driver of a white car lost control and overturned the vehicle while approaching a row of road cones. The vehicle ended up on its roof in the center median of the federal highway amid the pylons.
Several passing motorists stopped to help those inside the car, who were reported to be area visitors. While an ambulance was called, the people from inside the vehicle were evaluated and noted to have only suffered minor bruising.
Elements of the National Guard arrived to deal with the accident scene while they waited for a tow truck. The car was hauled to the city corralón.
