Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A hotel worker who was reportedly speed-driving down the highway ended up on his roof. The early morning accident happened near the area of Paamul Thursday.
Passing motorists who saw the speeding car leave the highway called emergency services after watching it roll onto its roof. Emergency services arrived to find the car in an area of thick highway brush at the base of a sign. Inside was the trapped 40-year-old driver.
The man, who worked at a Riviera Maya hotel, was eventually freed from his car and transferred to a Playa del Carmen hospital with undisclosed injuries. Personnel from the highway division of the National Guard attended to the scene.
