Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Excessive speed during an attempt to pass another vehicle is being considered in a PDC accident. Tuesday, city Transit arrived to find a compact car pinned under an overpass on Playa del Carmen Boulevard.
The unusual accident reportedly happened when a vehicle from behind hit the compact car while trying to pass. The vehicle’s driver kept going.
It was around noon when the two vehicles passed Luis Donaldo Colosio Avenue when one tried to overtake the other. Rather than accomplishing a clean pass, the vehicle hit the white car from behind, forcing it off the road and into the underpass.
Motorists who saw what happened called police. Solidaridad Transit arrived to find the car lodged in a section of the concrete bridge. The driver of the white car was removed from the vehicle unharmed.
Police are using city surveillance to look for the responsible driver of the second vehicle since the vehicle that allegedly caused the accident fled the scene.
