Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Although no serious injuries were reported, ambulances still responded to a crash that involved a tourist van. On Tuesday night, a passenger van carrying tourists in Playa del Carmen collided with a private car.
The two vehicles met at an intersection along Luis Colosio, causing extensive damage to both and leaving those inside the van with minor injuries. Police arrived to deal with backed up traffic, while medical personnel reviewed those involved.
According to preliminary information, the driver of the private car passed through a red light as the van entered the intersection at a high rate of speed. The two vehicles crashed.
There were no hospital transfers made from the scene of the accident. The driver of the private car fled, leaving his crumpled vehicle behind. Municipal traffic police arrived to have both the van and car towed to the corralón.
