Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An SUV landed on its roof after swerving to avoid hitting an animal on the highway. The accident happened Sunday evening just south of Playa del Carmen near Paamul.
Police and firefighters arrived to deal with the overturned vehicle, while paramedics arrived to assess the driver. Since she was wearing a seat belt, she did not require a hospital transfer.
A tow truck was called to remove the vehicle from the brush along the federal highway. The driver said she did not know what kind of animal it was that crossed her path.
