Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two men have landed themselves in jail after being found in possession of more than 20 kilos of narcotics. Elías “N” 43, from Veracruz and Ángel “N” 21, from Campeche were handcuffed and hauled away Wednesday after attempting to speed through a police filter.
The two men were found in possession of more than 20 kilos of drugs at a federal highway police checkpoint Wednesday morning. According to the SSC (Secretary of Citizen Security), the men were attempting to enter Playa del Carmen when they were caught.
“In coordination with SEDENA and the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), the Municipal Citizen Security Secretariat (SSCM) of Solidaridad arrested two males with 40 packages equivalent to more than 20 kilograms of possible narcotics at a surveillance checkpoint at the entrance to Playa del Carmen.
“The arrest occurred when the vehicle tried to enter at excessive speed through the surveillance checkpoint, so it was stopped. Two males were traveling in the unit were found to be carrying possible narcotics.
“The detainees are Elías “N” aged 43, originally from Veracruz and Ángel “N” aged 21, originally from Campeche, were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes,” the Seguridad Ciudadana Solidaridad (SSC) said in a statement.
