Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Paramedics were sent to the scene of a Playa del Carmen accident Sunday after reports of a crash on a city overpass. Ambulance and police responded to the call of the accident that was reported by passing motorists at Avenida Juárez.
Five young people were inside the older model SUV that crashed into the side of the overpass. None of those inside the vehicle were reported as seriously injured. One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The SUV sustained major front end body damage as well as a blown-out windshield.
Paramedics who treated the remaining four suspected the driver was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident. The male driver of the SUV was taken into police custody. He is being held responsible for the damage caused to city property.
