Driver alleged responsible for death of motorcyclist arrested on PDC federal highway

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The driver of a vehicle that killed a motorcyclist has been arrested. According to police, the two vehicle crash happened in December of 2021. On Thursday, local authorities proceeded to arrest Juan Carlos “N” on an outstanding warrant “in events possibly constituting the crimes of negligent homicide and negligent damages,” they reported.

“Juan Carlos “N”, who on December 16, 2021, was driving a truck with Quintana Roo state license plates on Xel-Há Avenue. Upon reaching the intersection of Del Carmen Avenue, due to lack of caution, he was hit on his right side by the front of the motorcycle.

“As a result of the impact, the motorcycle driver died of an acute myocardial infarction. Furthermore, after the accident, the motorcycle was a total loss.

“Juan Carlos “N” was arrested while traveling on Federal Highway 307, on the Playa del Carmen-Tulum stretch. After the arrest, elements of the Investigative Police transferred him to the FGE facilities for the corresponding procedures.”

He was subsequently admitted to the Municipal Detention Center of this municipality, to determine his legal situation.
