Dozing driver reported responsible for early morning PDC crash

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Preliminary reports say a dozing driver is responsible for the head on crash that happened early Friday. The red car and white truck collided on a residential Playa del Carmen road injuring two, one seriously.

The accident happened during the early morning hours of Friday along Avenida Solidaridad on the city’s west side. Reports claim the driver of the pickup dozed at the wheel and swerved at the moment the red car approached in the opposite lane.

Both vehicles hit at a rapid rate of speed sending two of the three people from inside the Mexico City plated car to hospital. One of those transferred, an adult woman, is reported to be in serious condition.

Transit officers responding to the accident report arrived to find open alcohol inside the cab of the truck. The driver was arrested from the scene. He was treated for minor bumps and bruises.
