Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A Bimbo bakery delivery truck was turned into scrap after the driver fell asleep and crashed his vehicle into a highway sign.
The truck was found badly damaged on its side along the Federal 307 Highway outside of Playa del Carmen.
The driver admitted to falling asleep at the wheel. He told authorities that upon reaching a corner at Kilometer 281 near Punta Venado, he dozed off, which is when his truck left the roadway and crashed into the large highway cenote sign.
The concrete-rooted highway sign was completely removed from its base. Damage to the Bimbo bakery truck was considerable. Aside from a few minor blows, the driver of the truck was unharmed.
