Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A trailer loaded with rock and aluminum board material lost its load and crashed after the driver of the unit lost control.
The accident occurred along the Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto federal highway near the community of Chumpón when the trailer overturned with a double loaded trailer that was hauling several tons of rockboard.
Reports say the driver of the unit fell asleep behind the wheel, losing control and partially leaving the highway, however, an over-correction caused the entire unit to tip. The lost load and crashed unit caused traffic chaos for several hours while authorities attempted to deal with the highway mess.
Federal Police from the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Station managed to clear one of the lanes so a tow truck could makes it way in to scene to remove the unit.
