Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man who had been arrested for an administrative offence was found dead in a holding cell Tuesday. On duty officers found the detainee deceased after being placed in a cell at the Secretariat of Civic Justice.
The in-custody man was located shortly after midnight ‘not moving’. Paramedics were called in to provide medical assistance, however, instead, they confirmed the man had died. Municipal Police in Playa del Carmen had arrested the man the day before.
Local authorities have not commented publicly on the death of the man that happened while in police custody. His age, nationality and probable cause of death are unknown.
