Bacalar, Q.R. — Police confirmed the discovery of a decaying human body off a dirt road Monday. Bacalar residents reported coming across the body laying in vegetation off a road around 12:30 p.m.
The body was located in an area near the Maya Train station in the stretch known as Aarón Merino. At the scene, police also found an abandoned motorcycle and a criminal threat message left next to the body.
The left-behind message mentions the names of others linked to criminal disputes in the area and referred to the execution of another person on a riverbank. The message accused the now-deceased of owing 50,000 pesos and being responsible for that riverbank execution.
He was referred to as a “rat in the business” and a “traitor”. The body found is reported to be of a 22 year old last seen September 18. He had an active missing persons report. The body is believed to have been laying off the road for several days before being found.
