Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — An afternoon highway accident outside Playa del Carmen killed one and injured three. Four members of a family from Campeche were transferred to hospital Friday after rolling their soft top vehicle down an embankment.
Solidaridad firemen were part of the emergency responders to reports of the single vehicle accident. At the scene, two adults and two minors were removed from the vehicle and transferred by stretcher up to the highway to a waiting ambulance.
One of the two children from inside the rolled vehicle died in hospital.
The accident happened on a section of Playa del Carmen-El Tintal highway around 4:30 p.m. The driver was heading toward Playa del Carmen at the time of the accident.
According to early information, the vehicle was being driven at excessive speed when a tire bust, causing the driver to lose control and roll down the embankment.
