Criminal leader extradited to U.S. to face drug and weapons charges

Mexico City, Mexico — Pursuant to the Extradition Treaty signed between Mexico and the United States, the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) extradited a Mexican national for drug and weapon related crimes.

Eleazar “M” was handed over to U.S. federal agents from the Mexico City International Airport Sunday from where he was transferred to Washington. He will face charges in the District of Columbia.

According to the FGR, Eleazar “M” served as the leader of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking for 10 years. Between 2000 and 2010, he transported large quantities of cocaine and marijuana for distribution purposes in the United States. In exchange, he received weapons for his criminal activities.

Eleazar “M” was arrested in Mérida, Yucatán in 2018, and held by the Government of Mexico until he was granted extradition to the U.S.
