Cozumel welcomes 66 cruise ships in first days of December

Cozumel, Q.R. — The island of Cozumel has received 66 cruise ships during the first 11 days of December. Vagner Elbiorn Vega, the General Director of the Quintana Roo Port Authority (Apiqroo), says the island has reaffirmed its position as one of the most outstanding tourist destinations in the world.

He says the arrival of the 66 cruise ships during the first days of December marks a promising start to the high season with seven of those ships arriving on Wednesday alone.

According to Elbiorn Vega, approximately 27,688 passengers are expected in coming days with the arrival of more ships. He reported the achievement reflects the coordinated work and management between the municipal, state and federal governments as well as the cruise ship companies and the local community to consolidate Cozumel as a world leader in maritime tourism.

He also confirmed the island is prepared to receive the visitors, guaranteeing quality services.

“We are committed to tourism that generates shared prosperity, that boosts our economy and at the same time, preserves the natural and cultural riches that make Cozumel a unique place in the world,” he said.
