Cozumel, Q.R. — Travelers on the island of Cozumel will now be able to undergo a Covid-19 test prior to ferry boarding. The news came from the general director of the Comprehensive Port Administration of Quintana Roo, (APIQROO) who says starting February 18, the ferry terminal at Cozumel will begin operating its portable lab.
APIQROO head Alicia Ricalde Magaña says the Cozumel maritime terminal will have a Marko Teck Laboratory module from where tests can be carried out to detect the presence of the virus.
She said that the port area of Cozumel is one more option for international tourists who are in need of a negative covid test to return to the country of origin. The portable lab will be able to provide antigen test results in about 20 minutes and PCR test results in about two hours.
She mentioned that test results can be delivered via email with a QR Code and added that the facility is available to everyone, including locals.
