Cozumel, Q.R. — The mayor of Cozumel says that many island hotels will be able to accommodate tourists in need of Covid-19 testing before returning to their home countries.
In a statement, mayor Pedro Joaquín Delbouis said that derived from the new provisions of the United States Government for travelers to enter the country, Cozumel city council is working in coordination with the American Consulate, the Cozumel International Airport, airlines, hospitals and hotels to maintain a safe destination.
“The test will be applied in Cozumel hotels, laboratories and hospitals to tourists who request it, especially those who depart by air. In the event that any visitor is positive, they must comply with the respective quarantine on the island where there is a hospital infrastructure to attend to visitors,” he explained.
City Council will update and disseminate the list of laboratories and hospitals that will offer the application of the antigen and PCR tests. As it stands now, test costs range between 346 peso to 1,375 peso for same day antigen test results. Travelers can also opt for PCR testing, which range in price from 2,399 peso to 2,850 for one to three-day test results.
“In Mexico, the vaccination against Covid-19 has already started, however, while this process reaches all sectors of society, we must continue with the protection and care of our health to safely advance in the economic and tourist reactivation on the island.
“And now, thanks to inter-institutional coordination, we will be able to provide a reliable destination to foreign visitors who want to visit and return to this paradise called Cozumel,” he said.
