Costa Maya, Q.R. — A Costa Maya taxi ended up in thick highway vegetation after veering off the road Saturday morning. The driver, who belongs to the Costa Maya driver’s union, was traveling on the Cafetal – Majahual highway and missed a stop sign.
Elements of the National Guard Highways Division were sent to assist the driver in the single vehicle roadway accident. At the site they found the front end of the taxi extensively damaged and the windshield completely smashed.
The driver was not seriously hurt but was transferred to a nearby medical facility for attention.
A high rate of speed is being considered in the early morning crash that left the car nearly totaled.
