Costa Maya highway flagger hospitalized after being hit by dump truck

Costa Maya, Q.R. — A highway flagger was seriously injured Thursday after being hit by a dump truck. The accident happened near the community of Sergio Butrón Casas in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.

The driver of the dump truck had just collided with a trailer that sent him careening forward off the highway and into jungle vegetation. During the maneuver, the out of control dump truck driver struck a highway flagger.

Elements from the National Emergency Commission appeared at the scene of the accident to provide assistance and help transport the injured worker to the Chetumal General Hospital.

Chetumal authorities are still investigating the accident that left a Maya Train highway traffic flagger in hospital. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
