Costa Maya highway accident leaves one dead

Costa Maya, Q.R. — The driver of a truck was killed Friday night in a single-vehicle Costa Maya highway accident. His passenger was seriously injured. Transit agents were requested at the scene along a section of highway heading toward Tulum.

Police found the rolled vehicle approximately three kilometers from the entrance to the Tulum bypass. On the road were two men. One was pronounced at the scene. The second man from the Nissan was transferred to Felipe Carrillo Puerto hospital.

It is not clear how the vehicle ended up rolling onto the highway shoulder. Broken pieces of truck parts were found scattered for meters around the accident site. The accident scene was cordoned off while the prosecutor’s office carried out the corresponding data collection.
