Construction worker dies after fall from Playa del Carmen mall

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A 40 year old construction worker died Friday morning after falling from a Playa del Carmen mall. The accident happened at a large shopping plaza along 115th Avenue of the city.

According to preliminary information, the man fell from a height of three meters while working on the remodeling of a business. Coworkers rushed the man to a nearby hospital after the 11:20 a.m. accident.

The injured man was admitted to hospital with profuse head bleeding but died shortly after arriving.

According to his coworkers, the unnamed man was working on the second floor when he lost his balance and fell. Police and Civil Protection personnel were seen at the scene of the accident taking statements and investigating possible workplace negligence.
