Considerable damage after weekend fire inside Pemex refinery

Cadereyta, Nuevo León — A weekend fire inside a Pemex refinery left considerable damage but no injuries. On Saturday, emergency services of Nuevo León reported that Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) was able to control the fire at the Cadereyta refinery.

According to Civil Protection of Nuevo León, the fire started in a heater of a hydrodesulfurizer inside the facility. Several social media users uploaded photos of the burning refinery as they drove the highway that connects with Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

The director of Fire Operations of Nuevo León, Alejandro Zúñiga, reported that at 1:06 p.m., a fire was recorded inside the Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) refinery without any injuries being reported.
