Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The State Attorney General has started an investigation into the murder of two Playa del Carmen residents. Two men were killed after being shot Sunday night in the Las Torres invasion area in southwest PDC.
One of the shooting victims died at the scene, while the second was taken to hospital but died during the transfer. He was pronounced dead upon arrival. The shooting happened around 10:00 p.m. Sunday in southwest Playa del Carmen.
According to preliminary reports, two men on a motorcycle intercepted them and began shooting before fleeing.
In a statement, the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office said they “opened an investigation for the crime of qualified homicide against two male victims of reserved identity, on Sunday night in the municipality of Solidaridad.

“Initial investigations indicate that this event is possibly related to a dispute between the victims and the alleged aggressors over a commercial space in an invasion zone.
“This Social Representation, in coordination with security authorities, is working to bring the person or persons responsible for this event to justice.”
