Cobblestone along PDC’s Fifth Shopping Avenue being painted brick red

Playa del Carmen, Q. R. — The newly laid cobblestone along Playa del Carmen’s 5th Avenue shopping strip is being painted brick red. The paint is “part of the renewal of the urban image in the tourist area,” mayor Lili Campos explained in a statement.

She said that more than 4,000 square meters of the cobblestone is set to be painted “brick red vinyl paint”. The paint is currently being applied on the cobblestone on 5th Avenue between Constituyentes and CTM.

The painting began on Tuesday and is expected to last nearly three weeks.

“The work will be carried out at dawn for 15 or 20 days, during a time that does not bother or disturb the activities of our walkers, restaurateurs and merchants,” said said.

The secretary of public services Benny Millán reported that the section of Constituyentes Avenue between 10 North Avenue and the flagpole before the Ultramar pier will be painted next.
