City Hall says PDC lacking adequate central parking for the disabled

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The company who provides the city of Playa del Carmen with parking meters will need to provide spaces for the disabled. Adrián Pérez Vera, Solidaridad Municipal Trustee, says while the company does not charge the disabled, they also do not provide appropriate parking spaces.

He said that PlayaParq does not provide adequate designated parking spaces for the disabled in centro. He also said that the company does not meet the minimum required number of disabled spaces for the city.

“If I am a person with a disability, it is of no use to me to not pay for an empty parking space that is four blocks from my destination,” adding that the city requires more designated disabled parking spaces in the downtown area.

He said these issues will be brought up in the next Mobility Commission meeting where he hopes Commission members will draft a proposal to send to the company.
