Ciudad Juárez, Juárez — A tunnel has been found on the border of Ciudad Juárez that leads into the U.S. The underground walkway was found by Mexican state security forces earlier this week.

According to Mexican government officials, security personnel began their search for the tunnel in response to citizen complaints. Elements of the Ministry of National Defense, along with several other Mexican government organizations, deployed a security operation after receiving citizen reports about the presence of individuals entering “a sewer.”
Officials started monitoring the area and carrying out surveillance tours on Boulevard IV Siglos to verify the information that was being provided by residents in their reports.
Agents quickly found an underground tunnel linking to the neighboring country. After the finding, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) was notified to coordinate the pertinent procedures with United States authorities.

The site was secured and sealed to continue the corresponding investigations. Local authorities have not yet said who made the tunnel or who has been using it.
