Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A child died after being involved in a two car accident in Playa del Carmen. A collision along Avenida de los Gansos between a combi and private car left the car overturned and the child deceased.
Police were sent to the scene of the 11:30 p.m. accident in Villas del Sol where they found the compact car on its roof. Preliminary reports say the driver of the speeding combi failed to stop at an intersection, colliding with the car as it passed through.
The combi van hit the car’s left rear, pushing it over and onto its roof. A child under the age of three that was being held in the arms of the car’s passenger, died on scene.
Traffic officers along with Municipal Police attended the scene and cordoned off the accident site. Paramedics treated the injured adults on site.
