Chihuahua man with outstanding warrant for sexual abuse arrested in Playa del Carmen human trafficking bust

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man from Chihuahua with an outstanding warrant for sexual abuse was arrested Friday night during a bar raid in Playa del Carmen. During the operation, 29 women were also removed from the premises.

Local authorities were escorted by National Guard Friday night during a search of a bar on Benito Juárez Avenue and 50 North Avenue in central Playa del Carmen. Arrested was Alejandro “N” from Chihuahua who was wanted in that state for sexual abuse.

During the operation, 19 foreign women and 10 Mexican women were removed from the club. The State Attorney General (FGE) reported “the rescue of 29 women who were alleged victims of sexual exploitation.”

Investigative police officers assigned to the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Combating Human Trafficking were in charge of completing the court ordered search of the bar. According to the FGE, the women were recruited to work providing sexual services and erotic dances that clients paid between 5,000 and 10,000 pesos for.

Among the foreign women are nine from Colombia, six from Venezuela, two from Cuba, one from Peru and one from Norway. Seven were made available to the National Migration Institute (INM) for the corresponding procedures.
