Chiapas man arrested for trafficking in Playa del Carmen after police find illegal migrants in SUV

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — One male remains in police custody after a Friday arrest from a Playa del Carmen highway. Solidaridad police made the arrest after a black SUV failed to stop at a south police filter.

Several units eventually intercepted and surrounded the SUV at the other end of the city just before the set of traffic lights at Avenue Xcalacoco. Inside the private vehicle were eight illegal migrants.

According to a news brief from SSP Solidaridad, “In a quick reaction of the Solidaridad Police, nine people are seized, five of whom are minors, after ignoring the instructions to stop when they passed in a SUV through the police filter.”

Officers located seven illegal migrants from Honduras and one from Guatemala. Five of those inside the SUV were minors. Taken into custody for trafficking was 24-year-old Lázaro “N” from Chiapas.
