Chetumal, Q.R. — Bad weather is being blamed for the rerouting of a Volaris flight Wednesday. Flight 824 was rerouted from the state’s capital city of Chetumal after two failed attempts to land.
The flight had arrived from Mexico City bound for Chetumal. Due to the poor rainy and windy weather conditions, the aircraft was diverted to Cozumel. Sources inside the International Air Terminal confirmed its arrival and landing without issue.
On social media, Volaris published “The diversion of the flight to an alternate airport was because weather conditions did not allow landing at the destination. Therefore, the decision was to preserve your safety and that of our crew. We greatly appreciate your understanding.”
On the same day, Volaris had a similar experience in Tijuana with fog: “Due to low visibility conditions caused by a layer of fog at the airport, departures and arrivals will be affected. We suggest constant communication with your airline. We appreciate your patience, your safety is our priority,” they posted.
