Mexico City, Mexico — More than 175,000 had their electricity affected by Cold Front No. 19. The mass of U.S. arctic air began entering Mexican territory Thursday. According to the CFE, a total of 175,894 people in three Mexican states were affected by the U.S. cold snap.
On Christmas eve, CFE personnel restored power to users affected by the passage of Cold Front No.19 in the states of Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz. The company detailed that in Tamaulipas, 44,095 people had their power supply affected. In San Luis Potosí, the figure was 7,601 and in Veracruz, 124,198 people were affected.
To deal with the damage, 415 electrical workers, 140 vehicles and 76 cranes were strategically deployed. CFE personnel remained in the affected region, making definitive repairs to the electrical infrastructure in order to return it to normal operating conditions, the company reported.
