Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — One person was killed and another wounded after a shooting in central Playa del Carmen. Police were quick to the 10th Avenue scene after reports of the 10:00 p.m. shooting.
Inside a bar authorities found an injured male and female. The man has been identified as a janitor. The injured woman was a waitress.
The shooting happened at a bar on 10th Avenue and 4th Street where a janitor that worked for the bar was the target. An armed male reportedly walked in and shot the man several times before running from the scene.
The shot man was found alive and rushed to hospital but died shortly after arriving. The injured bar waitress was also taken to hospital where she was treated for a bullet to her leg.
Police were at the scene collecting evidence. They also deployed a search operation for the armed man, but have not reported any arrests. A possible motive for the attack is not known.
