Car stopped kilometers later after killing Playa del Carmen pedestrian

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A pedestrian has become the latest fatality along the Playa del Carmen roadway system. On Sunday night, a man was killed after being hit by a motorist south of the city.

According to preliminary reports, the man was with two others when he was struck by a car that kept going. Witnesses to the accident were able to identify the Green Line taxi that allegedly hit the man. The taxi was stopped by Transit Police several kilometers down the highway.

The three men were workers at a nearby park. They were attempting to cross the federal 307 highway when one was struck. Police located the deceased man laying in the far right lane of the highway. Personnel from the Servicio Médico Forense were responsible for the removal of the body. The deceased man has not been identified.
