Car load of visitors to Playa del Carmen rushed to hospital after highway accident

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A family of visitors from Nayarit were rushed to hospital Sunday after a highway accident outside Playa del Carmen. Emergency responders located two crumpled vehicles along the Federal 307 highway near Punta Venado, just south of Playa del Carmen.

Other motorists who made the call of the accident reported the car was traveling along the highway when the driver suddenly crashed into the orange cones in the central division. A second vehicle, a minivan, became involved.

The minivan suffered extensive front end damage. There was no word on the condition of those from inside the van. Inside the car, several people ranging in age from 57 to seven were rushed to various hospitals in Playa del Carmen. They were reported as being a family visiting from the state of Nayarit.

The car in which they were traveling, was a complete write off. There was no official statement on the cause of the two-vehicle crash.
