CAPA starts third stage of pipe replacement in Bacalar

Bacalar, Q.R. — Work is being started Monday to replace old water lines around the city of Bacalar. The Potable Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA) says they will start the work of sectorization, replacement of pipes and micro-measurement of the potable water distribution network of the city of Bacalar Monday.

The start of the work will be its its third stage at a cost of 9.7 million pesos. The funding will come from the Drinking Water, Drainage and Treatment Program (Proagua) with state and federal participation through the National Water Commission (Conagua).

The replacement project will start August 5 and run until August 30. Streets on 7th Avenue between 36th Street and 32nd Street, and on 36th Street between 7th Avenue and 1st Street, will be affected since they will be partially closed to traffic.

The project includes trench excavation, the installation of various pipe diameters, the installation of water meters and replacement of asphalt, among others.

The project is being done by CAPA (Comisión de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado) and when complete, will benefit 1,758 residents in the municipal capital with better service.
