Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A 51-year-old Cancun man has been arrested in Playa del Carmen on accusations of sexual abuse. Juan “N” was picked up by Solidaridad police Tuesday after a citizen reported “improper conduct with a minor” in a restaurant play area.
The girl is reported to be three years old. The arrest was made in the Ejido area in Playa del Carmen’s west side.
In a statement, Solidaridad Municipal Police said that “Juan “N”, originally from Cancun, was detained by Preventive Police on Avenue 55 and Third Street South when they responded to a report from a citizen who stated that the now detained person was acting in improper conduct with the minor in the restaurant’s play area.
“He was subsequently placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office for the release of responsibilities.
“The girl received psychological, medical and comprehensive care from the corporation’s Specialized Group for Family and Gender Violence.”
Municipal Police have not said who the citizen was that made the report, nor did they specify the man’s relationship to the child.
